Weekly Update: July 8th

Updated: Jul 7, 2022

It's been a busy week!

Wednesday evening we had the "pre-tour" for the Bobcaygeon Horticultural Society Garden Tour. This was a chance for the volunteers of that event to see the gardens on the tour, as they will be busy volunteering on the day of the tour itself (Saturday, July 9th). There were around forty friendly and curious people who ventured out our way to see our gardens. It was great to meet so many enthusiastic and interested folks.

This Friday we'll be delivering and handling pickups for our CSA program and attending the Fenelon Falls Farmers' Market. Then Saturday we'll be at the Kinmount Farmers' Market, all the while hosting the Garden Tour throughout the day.

Beets

We know many of you love beets and eagerly await their arrival. We're happy to tell you that this week's shares will contain the first beets of the season!

We bunch our beets and leave the greens on and intact. Beet greens are edible and have a number of simple and delicious uses in the kitchen, but the beet roots will keep better if you cut the greens off store them separately.

Fenelon Falls Farmers' Market

Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow (Friday, July 8th), we'll be attending the Fenelon Falls Farmers' Market from 9am until 2pm.

Let us know how we're doing

Food Bank Donations

So far this season we've donated over 600 pounds of fresh produce to our local food banks!

Most of our donated produce goes to Kawartha Lakes Food Source, a fantastic charitable organization that distributes to many food banks within Kawartha Lakes.

We also make direct donations to the Fenelon Falls Salvation Army, Bobcaygeon Food Bank, and the Kinmount Salvation Army Food Bank.

A big thank you to all of our CSA customers who support our operation and make this possible!
