This season, we’re trialling a small planting of two eggplant varieties: Annina and Black Beauty.
Annina is an Italian variety with elongated, teardrop shaped fruit and glossy purple and white striped skin. It has tender flesh and relatively few seeds. Black Beauty is a classic heirloom variety producing large, rounded fruit with glossy, deep-purple skin and a great texture.
 
Both varieties are versatile and well suited to grilling, roasting, frying, curries, dips, and eggplant parm.
