Restaurants & Food Businesses

Welcome!

We're Brandeston Farm, a family-owned and operated farm growing high-quality, fresh produce in the Kawartha Lakes.

Our farm operates using sustainable methods, organic fertilizers, and our staff earn a living wage.

Throughout the season we accept orders both online and by phone, with pick-up and delivery options available.

If you'd like to hear from us as the season approaches, fill out our Restaurant Contact Form below.

If you're in need of large quantities, we can work with you to seed and harvest crops specifically for your needs.

How to use local produce

Regular orders to a major food distributor is a common model for many restaurants. In general we've seen that kitchens tend to follow one of three menu strategies for incorporating local products.

Stable Menu

Kitchens that keep a stable menu that doesn't change throughout the year.

They use local produce when it's in-season and a distributor to acquire what isn't available locally.

Seasonal Options

Kitchens that have some items year round (e.g. Burgers) but offer seasonal variations and dishes.

They use local produce to highlight in-season ingredients and recipes.

Seasonal Market

Primarily Seasonal

Kitchens whose menu is primarily guided by what's in-season locally.

They are regularly changing their menu and are comfortable adapting to and improvising with what's available.

What do we grow?

We are committed to growing high-quality, fresh produce that is in season. This means that our selection of produce varies throughout the year, and not every item will always be available.

In the summer months, we have a variety of tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, and others, while in the fall, our selection of root vegetables and winter squashes will arrive. Some crops are available all season, such as lettuce, spinach, radish, and kale.

A seasonality driven approach to farming is not only better for the environment and the health of our soil, but it also results in produce that is at the peak of its flavor and nutritional value.

We encourage chefs & cooks to embrace this philosophy and feature seasonal produce on their menus. This can help you offer unique and exciting dishes that reflect the changing seasons, all while supporting local food producers.

Lettuces & Greens

Lettuce and greens are staple items for menu planners, and exceptionally fresh lettuce turns a common salad into something amazing.

We offer head lettuce, salad mixes, and others greens like spinach, chard, and kale all through the growing season.
