We're back! This Friday, June 10th marks the start of our 2022 CSA program.
Below you'll find some updates about what's happening at the farm and an overview of what's in this week's share.
New Team Members
This season we're thrilled to have two new team members helping us at the farm.
Julie is a recent graduate of Sir Sanford Fleming's Sustainable Agriculture program and Natasha is currently a student at Trent in the Sustainable Agriculture program.
It's great to have such kind and enthusiastic collaborators to help keep things running smoothly!
Beware of Pup
In November we added a new member to our household: Tessa! She's a border collie and sports an energy that defies the laws of thermodynamics.
For her safety and that of the general public, we'll keep her inside during CSA pickups, but you may see her later in the season as she becomes a more trusty pup.
Garden Expansion & New Working Area
Towards the end of last season and into the early winter, we spent many days moving compost and shaping new beds and growing areas to expand our gardens.
We lost a greenhouse tunnel in a windstorm in December but have salvaged the remains and built another tunnel to add to our protected growing capacity. This season we have two full tunnels of tomatoes, one pepper tunnel, and cucumbers and herbs in the remaining space.
You may also notice we have two white shipping containers at the entryway to our garden field. This will be our new working and processing area for the garden. We still have some work to do to finish up be we expect to be up and running in the next few weeks.
