Weekly Update: October 14th

Brandeston Farm

There are only a few weeks left in our CSA program and as we complete our

final harvests, pack up our gear, and get things squared away for winter, we're already looking forward...

CSA Season Survey

Planning a farm season requires a lot of effort and careful consideration.

We have to arrange for a significant quantity and variety of veggies to be ready for harvest, each and every week, for the whole season. We need to be sure to rotate different crops through our beds, and ensure we have back up options in case we lose a few crops along the way. We have to schedule and account for all the human labour required, the amount and varieties of seed we need to order, and create schedules that accommodate the possibility of bad weather or the unexpected.

All that said - it can be difficult to make major changes once a season is in motion. However the time between seasons is perfect for considering and making big changes.

We're hoping you'll take a minute or two to fill out our 2022 CSA Season Survey. The survey asks a variety of questions with the intention of finding out what you liked, and most importantly, what you didn't like. Any major issues, minor annoyances, nit-picks, or fleeting comments are fair game and genuinely welcome.

Food Bank Donations

So far this season we've donated nearly 3,000 pounds of fresh produce to our local food banks. Most of our donated produce goes to Kawartha Lakes Food Source, a fantastic charitable organization that distributes to many food banks within Kawartha Lakes.

A big thank you to all of our CSA customers who support our operation and make this possible!
